french toast


French or Italian bread (Meijer bakery bread works great), sliced regular (not too thick, not too thin)

3 eggs

1 cup milk

1.5 to 2 tablespoons sugar in the raw

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

vegetable oil

  • Preheat griddle to 375 degrees
  • Mix eggs, milk, vanilla (about 1 tablespoon) and 1.5 packet sugar in the raw
  • Dip bread in mixture
  • Place bread on griddle, sprinkle sugar in the raw on top of the bread slices
  • Flip and cook on other side, press down

The sugar in the raw gives the toast a crispy, sweet taste.
