party tips

par·ty

(pärt)n. pl. par·ties

1. A social gathering especially for pleasure or amusement: a cocktail party.

2. A group of people who have gathered to participate in an activity.

Music is important at a party. Everyone likes music. Plan this ahead of time. Mix together songs you think the crowd would like. Take their age into consideration. Start more mellow, into lively and more mellow again toward the end of the party. This takes time to get the right mix. It’s safe to have 4 hours worth or tunes.

If you are serving cocktails or mixed drinks, make sure to have condiments such as, lemons, limes and cherries. It is also important to have a variety of mixers, regular and diet sodas, club soda, tonic, juices. Cocktail umbrellas or swords are a fun touch.

Instead of Cheddar or Swiss with crackers as an appetizer, try blue cheese, big crumbles! Serve with dark chocolate and crackers, throw in a few red grapes.

Cheese is better served at room temperature. The flavor is more complex and intense.
