spaghetti sauce

1.5 pounds lean ground beef or turkey

2 shallots, chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste

1 (16 ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1 (46 fluid ounce) bottle or can tomato juice

1/2 -3/4 cup red wine ( I used Pinot Noir)

1 tablespoon dried oregano

2 tablespoons dried basil

2 tablespoons dried parsley

1/8 to 1/4 cup white sugar

Kosher salt

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • Brown beef with shallots and garlic
  • Drain beef
  • Add all other ingredients
  • Simmer for 4-6 hours
  • Add more salt or basil later to taste

Serve with fresh grated Parmesan, garlic bread and a green salad.
