Makes 2 loaves.
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons cinnamon (and more for dusting pans)
white sugar (only for dusting pans)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup brown sugar
1 and 1/8 cup sugar in the raw
3/4 cup melted butter
16 ounce container sour cream
3 eggs, beaten
2-3 Granny Smith or Honey Crisp apples, peeled and cut into small chunks
50 individual wrapped caramel candies, unwrapped and chopped in half
1/2 cup pecan chips
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nutmeg
- Grease and dust pans with sugar and cinnamon mixture
- In another mixing bowl, combine eggs, butter, sour cream, and sugars
- Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients
- Roll chopped caramels into a small amount of cooking oil with a pinch of kosher salt
- Add caramels, apples and pecan chips to batter
- Pour batter into a greased and dusted loaf pans and cook in a 350 degree oven for about an hour and 30 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes before serving
